Thanks to Dad for My Dollhouse
Thanks to my dad for making me a dollhouse. Not many little girls are lucky enough to have a dad who is so handy that he can build her a dollhouse. I am lucky enough to actually be one of them. So thankful for that doll house and for all of the fun it brought me as I grew up.

Thankful for that Barbie Dream House
Today I am thankful for my dad for staying up late on Christmas Eve so many years ago to put together my Barbie Dream House. That thing rocked (it had an elevator and everything) and it gave me many, many hours of Barbie entertainment for years after. I didn't know until years later what a pain in the ass it was for Dad to put that together, but I can say with much certainty, that I appreciate it and am so thankful that he did. Seriously. Barbie Dream Houses were awesome.

Thanks to Dad- Karaoke and Missouri
Thanks to my dad for buying a house in the Ozarks in Missouri for several years, a home where I paid many a visit. Why am I thankful for this? Yes, there was lots of family time on the lake down there boating and jet skiing, but there was also an afternoon at a bar called The Dummy, where I drank a little too much and sang a little karaoke. That's not really news in itself, but the big deal is that while I was singing my version of "Like a Virgin", a Missourian shared with my father that he thought I sounded really good. That had never happened before and it has never happened since and if you've heard me sing, you will know why. So, because my parents decided to buy a home in Missouri, where people are evidently tone-deaf, I was paid a compliment that will never, ever, happen again. I will always be thankful for that.

Thanks to Dad- Dancing Recitals and Gymnastic Meets
Thanks to my dad for going to all of my dance recitals and gymnastic meets when I was little. I know he loathed the dance recitals because they were so long and boring and I would only be on a stage a few times during those long hours in a hot auditorium, but still he went to see his little girl dance. Gymnastic meets were the same thing- long days on Saturdays only to see me compete for a few minutes and then be done, but again, he did it and I never heard him complain. I don't think he knows how much I loved knowing he was there to watch me, but there was nothing better than knowing Dad was in the crowd cheering me on. It meant the world to me.

Thanks to Dad- Post 3
Today I am thankful for my dad for attempting to teach me to play soccer. He loves the sport so much and I am sure he was thrilled the day I said I wanted to play. He coached my team and spent who knows how much time in the backyard trying to teach me to head soccer balls. Sadly, my soccer career was short-lived because much to Dad's chagrin, I was much more interested in turning cartwheels and doing handsprings on the soccer field than actually playing soccer. Thanks for trying though, Dad. In the end, I married an excellent soccer player who you coached as well, so that has to count for something.

Daily Dad: My First Dance
Today I am thankful for having a dad who let his little daughter dance with him by putting her feet on top of his. Every little girl should be so lucky to step on her dad's feet and move around the living room with him. Thanks for always being my first dance in life.

Thanks to Dad- Post 1
Last month so many people posted daily gratitudes on Facebook. I've decided this month to post daily "thanks to my dad" posts on this blog and on Facebook, because I will never take for granted again the things that he has given me, big to small. Today I am thankful to my dad for giving me my love of blue Christmas lights on a house. There's nothing prettier than all blue lights decorating the outside of a home. Not many people agree with that, but Dad has loved them for as long as I can remember and I always have too. It's because we have great taste!
